Semester 2 - Straits Times Reflection1 Term 3

1)
(a) Why is cheerleading an expensive sport?

Answer:

Cheerleading is an expensive sports because the students have to pay about $200 only for a single performance , the uniform costs from $100 to $400 . The uniform is a tailor-made to the exact measurements of each cheerleaders. The pom-pom have to be imported from United States or Taiwan.
The shoes is imported by United states and Taiwan and its cost $90 to $150. The cheerleaders have to attend workshop and classes and it have to be paid by the students itself. The cheerleaders have to pay for the nutritional supplements and vitamins and its costs $50 to $130. The hair products costs $50 per bottle and training mats cost $50 each.
Only the Medical insurance mostly covered by schools and organisations. This make the cheerleading is an expensive sports . It takes $10,000 to $20,00 to set up a cheer squad.

(b) What makes cheerleading such a tough sport?

Answer :

Cheerleading is a such tough sports because it need to put in hours of practice . When the competitions approach, most teams needs to increase the frequency of their training from an average of twice a week to five times a weeks. It requires teamwork to get stunts done. Its not easy and it is not just for for fun.

2) What is your opinion of cheerleaders? If given a chance, would you join cheerleading? Why/ why not?

- My opinion of cheerleaders are that this kind of sports are a tough one. It is because it needs a lot of stamina and teamwork to make a perfect cheerleading .The cheerleaders have to do a perfect flip, flop tumbling stunts. With the help of boys , it will ease the burden of the girls because the boys can carry the girls and tumble them . If the girls carry the girls , its a hard one. cheerleaders need to have a lot if money and strong fianancial because this is an expensive sports . If i have given a chance, i would not join cheerleading because cheerleading needs a lot of time to focus on it . It needs a lot of moneys to paid for the accessories and the uniform . It have to be fit to join cheerleading. Cheerleading takes a lot of hardwork and when the competitions approach , the routiine became tighter. the practice will became five or three times a week . That is the routine when there is competitions approach . The cheerleaders have to be proffesional to became a perfect cheerleaders.
If there is someone who is really interested in cheerleading, he/her will put more focus on cheerleading and will pay a lot of money on it and take the cheerleading seriously . If they not interested, its a such waste because they have to pay a lot of money but they did not take the cheerleading seriously.
